Every summer, the Chapter Officer Team attends the North Central District Chapter Officer Leadership Training to improve their leadership skills, network with other chapter officers, and hone their skills for their respective officer positions.
The Greehand Fire-Up (GFU) Leadership Conference is one the first opportunities each year for new FFA members to experience FFA, develop friendships, and see what FFA has to offer. This event is hosted by one of three area community colleges in the district.
One of the biggest traditions in our chapter is participating in Leadership Career Development Events at the Sub-District and District levels. FFA develop skills in the areas of Parliamentary Procedure, Public Speaking, Creed Speaking, Ag Sales, Job Interview, Ag Broadcasting, and more.
Prior to the District Convention, Iowa Degree review night and District Officer interviews are conducted. Iowa Degree's are finished by this point and go under the review by NC District advisors to approve them for the state. Additionally, officer interviews must be conducted to build the ballot which is voted on at the District Convention.
Each summer, the A-P FFA Livestock Evaluation team(s) compete in the N.C. District Livestock Judging Career Development Event (CDE) held at the Franklin Co. Fairgrounds to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of livestock by placing classes and giving an oral set of reasons on market and breeding classes of cattle, hogs, sheep, and goats.
Each summer, A-P FFA members participate in livestock, static, and speaking contests at the county fair. The two county fairs that our FFA members primarily compete at are Butler and Grundy counties. Outside of our local fairs, we also travel to compete at various CDE's that nearby counties host.
