Description

Grow your green thumb and get your hands dirty in this hands-on, work based course. Landscapes surround each of us—whether these landscapes are in our yards, our places of work, or even at our school. In this course, we will learn the principles of planning, designing and constructing landscapes. We will begin by identifying and learning growing conditions for common landscape plants grown in Iowa. Students will be introduced to site planning and after gaining these skills, students will see these skills come to life as they spend a great deal of time outdoors gaining experience with equipment, tools and machinery to install landscapes around the school and in the local community.

If selecting this course, you will be expected to work outside in strenuous situations and may be asked to come in early and stay late. It is one of the most authentic/real world classes offered at A-P High School. If you cannot commit to additional responsibilities, consider another class from the course list.
